Penwortham Cricket Club was founded in 1880 and became a founder member of the Palace Shield competition in 1902.
The ground is situated in Lower Penwortham, 2 miles south of Preston, and has been our home since 1893. It is small and compact but provides an excellent cricket wicket. Our facilities consist of a modern brick pavilion, built in 1995, with a small bar; a car park; 3 bays of artificial nets purchased with the assistance of a Sport England grant; a mobile grass practice net and score box.
We run 3 senior Saturday teams and 1 Sunday Team all playing competitive cricket in the Moore & Smalley Palace Shield Competition. We have a strong junior section covering all age groups from 6 to 17. The juniors start in a Kwik Cricket group and develop through the U11; U13; U15 & U17's, with all teams playing league cricket under the guidance of qualified coaches.
We have strong links with Hutton Grammar School, with our Saturday 3rd XI using the school facilities for their fixtures, and in winter we run indoor nets for both our Junior and Senior players at the newly developed sports hall.
The club is proud to have achieved CLUB MARK accreditation in 2005 and is an ECB Focus Club. We are a family orientated club with many of our senior players having progressed via the long established junior section.
All new members and spectators are most welcome.
